Involvement in yet another project aiming at ‘BREEAM Excellent’ underlines our ability to deliver ‘extreme green’

TClarke nationwide adds to its extensive nationwide portfolio of projects with a significant green technologies component with the announcement of the Bedford Academy win. Group CEO Mark Lawrence commented:

‘In the last 24 months our firm has been involved in a stream of projects in different sectors achieving ‘BREEAM excellent’ and ‘very good’ ratings, up and down the country. You can see a very clear shift in expectations - both from end users and the engineering teams - towards far more energy efficiency and minimal negative environmental impacts. TClarke teams right across the UK now have substantial experience of working from an early stage, with significant input into the design development. The concept of ‘Green’ engineering was one we took very seriously many years back as we worked for and achieved environmental accreditation and developed our approaches to work - but in recent times it has moved on to become a practical fact of engineering life for us, taking in new design approaches and ways of working.”

The Bedford Academy engineering challenge is not only focused on achievement of the highest environmental ratings; the team led by Willmott Dixon, will need to work around a fully operational school. In addition, there will be substantial ‘Intelligent Buildings’ components to the project including  lighting controls, data, fire alarm, intruder alarm, CCTV and Access Controls among many. Once again these are things that TClarke has significant experience of delivering nationwide. The project targets completion in April 2013.
