TClarke Scotland’s work for David Wilson Homes on the prestigious Botanics development in central Glasgow exemplifies the firm’s approach and advantages in the residential construction market. In the project offices, client Matt McLaughlin and TClarke Scotland MD, Gary Jackson talk it through.

I’ve worked with you Matt for many years, and I think it is fair to say we’ve come a long way since I first convinced you to give us a chance delivering plumbing and electrical on a residential project of 40 units at Elderslie in Renfrewshire— going back to the time before we were even a TClarke business.
 
Matt McLaughlin
That’s absolutely true. What you’ve achieved as a team, becoming TClarke is a complete transformation of the business I met many years ago.  The quality of workmanship, the co-ordination of services, the health and safety approach, the customer service - and really above all the teamwork and team dynamics - without which you can’t do anything in my view. You’ve achieved a lot - and this isn’t ‘stage managed’ its just me speaking the facts.
 
Gary Jackson
I think we see the health and safety and the ‘can-do’ aspects that we push as being key, and for me those are the areas that my colleagues and I are most proud of.
 
Matt McLaughlin
Yes - and I think you have your system - You See You Say - isn’t it? And I see your supervisors do use it all the time -  and they’re active in doing that - and there’s no doubt that it does spot safety hazards and gets them fixed. It is simple and efficient and your people are switched on to it.
 
Gary Jackson
I’d say that working together is all about ‘trust’ on an everyday working level. What I know is that the boys want to be here working for you, they are motivated and the communication is there and at the end of the day, the ‘proof of the pudding’, if you like, is that you get a good job done and you can ‘trust’ us to do that for you every time.
 
Matt McLaughlin
I’ll take that further. ‘The proof of the pudding’ for me has happened over the last fourteen days as we’ve successfully handed over 28 of these very high end apartments to customers. Bringing those clients in and making the experience right for them is what the whole thing is all about. If you ask any of the sales team they’ll say the same thing - we get real value from TClarke in delivering the quality that end clients want to see.
 
Gary Jackson
What you get with TClarke is guys onsite who you know - who won’t vanish like agency staff - and who you can put your trust in to do the job the right way.
 
Matt McLaughlin
The reality is that if I need to have two TClarke guys in front of a client, then I know I can trust them to do the right thing for David Wilson Homes. That sums up the value we get from TClarke. I don’t need to say all this on your behalf - but I am happy to say it because, like I said at the beginning, I see a direct commercial value to our business from teamwork and the dynamics you deliver.
