The whole team at the Victoria Station Upgrade Project including TClarke, has won a fourth Gold Considerate Constructors Scheme Site Award last week and, on top of that, a second Most Considerate Site Runner-up Award.
TClarke’s ‘You See You Say’ safety reporting scheme was highlighted for mention by the Considerate Constructors Scheme Chairman in the following citation:
The introduction of ‘You See, You Say’ observation cards encouraged workforce feedback and helped ensure that environmental incidents were not overlooked.
Safety procedures were constantly being reviewed and a performance-related recognition and reward programme was part of creating a culture which achieved outstanding results. Facilities and arrangements for the workforce continued to be first-class and the site had its own ‘stress-line’, in addition to advertising the Construction Industry Helpline. Of additional merit was the employment on site of a man with learning disabilities.
With excellent standards of presentation inside and out, this site is addressing the principles of considerate construction to the highest levels.
TClarke’s Group Managing Director, Mike Crowder is responsible for Safety across the business and he was delighted with the award:
‘The Victoria Station Upgrade is such a high profile project and I’m delighted that our team has played its part in collaborating fully with main contractors, Taylor Woodrow BAM Nuttall JV, to help them achieve the Gold standard four times. What particularly pleases me is that our client took the time to thank our team for their contribution in sharing TClarke best practices in safety reporting with all partners.
‘Good safety standards don’t happen by luck, they happen because people stay switched on to safety, make the effort and follow the best practice - my congratulations go to everyone in the TClarke Transport team working on this project.’
