Further Investment for Digital upgrade of the NHS

27/10/21: Having spent last week presenting at the IHEEM (The Institute of Healthcare Engineering and Estate Management) Healthcare Estates Conference, Rob Faro TClarke UK South Director and UK Healthcare Lead highlights the extra £5.9 billion for the NHS announced this week by the Chancellor of the Exchequer, which comes on top of the £12 Billion a year for health and social care announced in September.

Included in this investment into the NHS in England will be £2.1bn for Digital Transformation, £2.3bn for Diagnostic Services and £1.5bn for Increased Bed Capacity, Equipment and new ‘Surgical Hubs’.

It comes just a week after our Smart Hospitals conference presentation to engineering and estates specialists across the health services and just two months after we were successful in being selected as one of only four companies on the NHS National Smart Buildings Framework. We have been speaking directly to the people who will be charged with delivering projects and IHEEM was a critical opportunity for us to get an even deeper understanding of customer needs and to share our vision and capabilities to deliver Smart Hospitals.

There is clearly both the appetite and the sense of urgency within the Healthcare sector to take advantage of what Smart Hospitals can offer in terms of efficiency and enhanced patient care. We are working hard to tell the TClarke story and it was great to find that we were nominated for three separate awards at the conference. Our story is one of innovation, potential and proven achievement working within the NHS.

For several years we have been providing specialist services relating to the installation of diagnostic machines, where our own control panels support these machines in hospitals across the UK. We are already seeing an increase in activity in this part of our specialist healthcare service and welcome the investment to both clear the backlog of tests and help stimulate the economy with British manufactured products such as ours.

This substantial funding is further evidence of the fact that when it comes to healthcare capability, we are in the right place at the right time – and with the right people and skills.
